Ok so I have a spelling question in my report I have to put "ancient Egypt" alot so is it Ancient Egypt or ancient Egypt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im thinking ancient Egypt because there is no significance to ancient but we are also learning that if you are trying to describe something old or in the past you put Ancient

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would do Ancient Egypt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is Ancient Egypt. They are both capitalized because you are speaking of a previous empire.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ancient Egypt is a proper noun because was a historical period, So i thought it should be capitalized.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Couldn't it be both depending on the context?

Agent_Sniffles and all the others are correct. If you are specifically referring to the empire, it is Ancient Egypt. If you are referring to the general aspects of Egypt during a time frame before history, ancient Egypt would also suffice.
