You don't need to solve the equation. If there is 1 solution, the slopes will be different. If there is no solution, the slopes and y-ints will be different. This means the lines are parallel. if there is infinite solutions, the slopes and y ints will be the same. This means the equations are equal, therefore, overlap each other. To find out. Simply equate both your equations.
If there is no solution the slopes will be the same, but y-ints will be different. Sorry.
