What is the formula to calculate plant productivity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you're referring to primary productivity it'd be Net Primary Productivity = Gross Primary Productivity - Respiration Rate in other words, Amount of biomass leftover = Total amount of biomass produced - Biomass consumed for cellular respiration Where the above is measured in mass per area per unit of time.
