According to The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), youths 14 and 15 years old may work outside school hours in various non-manufacturing, non-mining, non-hazardous jobs under the following conditions no more than 3 hours on a school day or 18 hours in a school week no more than 4 hours on a school day or 20 hours in a school week no more than 5 hours on a school day or 22 hours in a school week no more than 9 hours on a non-school day or 42 hours in a non-school week
