Hooke’s law states the distance of d a spring will stretch varies directly to the mass m of the object hanging from it. If a 5-kg weight causes it to fall 10 cm, how far will a 6-kg weight cause it to fall?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

If distance 'd' varies directly with mass 'm' then this implies:\[d=k*m\]where 'k' is some constant. you can find 'k' because you know d=10 when m=5. that will then allow you to work out 'd' when m=6.
