Are ants capable of carrying weights more than their own weight ?
Yes that's what ants are famous for is carrying as much as 50 times their body weight.
So what makes the ant possible to perform such an act ? Is it their anatomy ?
That I do not know :/
so anyone in this group can crack the secret behind these ants plzzz?
the answer is associate with the size of the muscle fiber. With a small size the muscle volume suffer a reduction by 1/3 in relation of the lenght, and tue area suffer only reducction of 1/2 in relation of the comprimento, by that way the force exercised by the muscle in comparison with the body weight increases with the decrease of the length of the muscles fibers. that way the ants could reduce they muscle fibers and increase their force.
I got a picture of your answer my friend. But can you make me understand better ? ...I can wait for a detailed answer
do you know how is the ways to increase force of the muscle?
the force of a muscle is proportional of the area of his transverse section. So if the area won´t follow the reduction of the volume, will reduce less than volume. The area will increase, and so the force.
sorry, If I can't make me more clear =/
You could learn more about this in the Schmidt-Nielsen book, of animal physiology
did u know that a flea can jump to a height equals to ~50 of its height (possibly even more)?
Ya.
It is their anatomy, because they are so small. O Did you also know that an ant could fall from a skyscraper and not die? Because they have little to nothing mass.
