Write a polar equation in r and θ of a conic with the focus at the origin, and eccentricity 7/8 and directrix y = 2.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how is eccentricy defined?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk??................

OpenStudy (amistre64):

that might be something you would want to look up then, conics can be identified by their eccentricity, but i cant remember how it is defined.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

greater than 1=parabola less than 1 but greater than 0 =ellipse less than 0=hyperbola

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so this would be an ellipse right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i think that 7/8 is related to b/a

OpenStudy (amistre64):

c/a ... i was close :)
