Do you have any guesses? Again, this is NOT my field, so I don't feel confident in my ability to come up with a good explanation beyond "I used common sense", but... I'd like to know what you think.

Well, can you guess? When I don't know much about something and I see a multiple choice question, I go through the different answers and ask myself "does that make sense?"

By the way, I think the key here is "long-term": think about how accurate weather forecasts are.. say... one year in advance. Can they predict with any accuracy whether it'll rain on one particular day far in the future? What about more general trends, e.g. "next winter will probably be colder/warmer than last one"?
