OpenStudy (aravindg):

find the greatest and least values of the function f(x)=2x^2+2/x^2 for -2<=x<0,0

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

equate differential to zero. and find x's for that. at those values maxima or minima exists. now, find double derivative at that x. negative double derivative means its a maxima, and a positive double derivative means its a minima

OpenStudy (aravindg):

thx

OpenStudy (experimentx):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=f%28x%29%3D2x%5E2%2B2%2Fx%5E2++for+-2%3C%3D+x+%3C%3D2 Greatest seems infinity, critical points should give minimum

OpenStudy (experimentx):

seems that x=0 is asymptote.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

thx todays qns ovr :)
