a) Express BA in terms of a and b b) Given than BX=mBA, show that OX=ma(1-m)b c) Given that OP=4a and PQ=2b. express OQ in terms of a and b. d) Given that OX= nOQ use the results for OX and OQ to find the values of m and n...
is it hard @Hero
Not really, but you failed to mention that we were working with vectors here.
oh ...sorry
can u hlp?
I know you're excited, but hang on buddy. Either I will help, or someone else will.
hm okay...
a) b - a Sorry. I haven't worked with these in a while so it takes longer to figure out
For b) what does m mean?
constant?
Is that a guess?
Can you multiply two vectors?
nope..im sure its a constant
My sources tell me that we are multiplying vectors for part b) which is not possible. It is possible to multiply scalars but not vectors. Do you have anything to add or suggest for part b ?
BX=mBA BX= m(a-b) BX=ma-mb OX=OB+BX =b+ma-mb OX=b(1-m)+ma this is ok d) is the case
for b) originally you wrote that we had to show that show that OX=ma(1-m)b Now you post a solution that shows that OX=b(1-m)+ma
c) 4a + 2b
You should be able to figure out d) from there
nope its dfclt try nd c
OX = ma + (1 - m)b OX = nOQ OQ = 4a + 2b OX = n(4a + 2b) OX = OX n(4a + 2b) = ma + (1 - m)b (4n)a + (2n)b = (m)a + (1 - m)b This implies that 4a = m 2n = 1 - m Therefore m = 4a n = (1-m)/2 n = (1 - 4a)/2 That's about as far as I can get you
yeah wait check http://openstudy.com/users/thushananth01#/updates/4f8afb3be4b09e61bffc500a this
hero?
did u like erase it @emcrazy14
(d) OX=nOQ ma-mb+b=2nb+4an Equating both sides; ma=4an m=4n .. -mb+b+2nb b(1-m)=2nb (b is cancelled) 1-4n=2n n=1/6 Replacing in m=4n, you get m=4/6 or 2/3
absolutely
* -mb+b=2nb I put addition sign there.
okay now why cnt v frst solve for n and then m?
Do it whatever way you find easy.
i get n = m/4 check ma method ma-b(1-m)=n(4a+2b) m=4n n=m/4 okai fine i get it...
i hve one more? please
Ok. Post it.
i posted chck it
