0.3x^2=1.8x+0.3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know how to factorize ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

rewrite the equation -0.3x^2 + 1.8x + 0.3 = 0 use the general quadratic formula a = - 0.3 b = 1.8 c = 0.3 substitute into the formula ans evaluate \[x =(-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac})/2a\]

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

or use 0.3(-x^2 + 6x + 1) = 0 a = -1, b = 6 and c = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but can you use quadratic formula to solve it?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

yep it will be \[x =( -6 \pm \sqrt{6^2 - 4\times-1\times1})/(2\times-1)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just try to solve it the solution set is (6.16,-6.16)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

nearly... just be careful one answer is \[x = -3+\sqrt{10}\] the other is \[x = -3-\sqrt{10}\] one of your answers is correct, the other is wrong.... -6.16 is correct... the other sound be about 0.16

ok
