Can you help me with the last two problems of this trigo problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I have determined that for problem e, the values are: • Value of a: 8.05 • Value of b: 0.52 • Value of c: 48 • Value of d: 24.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need help with the last 2 problems. I have no idea what to answer

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[T(t)=a \sin {b(t-c)}+d\] a = amplitude period = 2pi/b c= phase shift d= vertical displacement If you want the temperature function, replace a, b, c, and d with the determined values.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Mertsj , that is merely the general sinusoidal function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I answered that in problem e. I need help with the last 2.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Are the last two f and g?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a-e, I have done it

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Well, what characteristic does a represent if it is not the amplitude. Maybe you are supposed to describe what amplitude means.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The reason Im so stuck is I dont understand it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no Idea what they are asking me

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You don't understand what amplitude is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no not that, the question f

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The actual question. I dont get it.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Well, in e, they said tell what a represents. I'm assuming you said a represents the amplitude. Would I be correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So now in f they say what characteristic of the function does a represent. I guess I would say that |a|, the amplitude represents the largest value the function can attain.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

I think they want you to demonstrate that you can relate these values to the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So basically explain in detail what each value does to the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like a value determines so and so B value alters the period etc.etc. Like that?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Omg Im going to kill myself, didnt know it was this simple. Ok. How do I solve for the last one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If you want the temperature function, replace a, b, c, and d with the determined values.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean determined values? Like the values I gave? or the values from the table?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

• Value of a: 8.05 • Value of b: 0.52 • Value of c: 48 • Value of d: 24.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t = 8.05 sin(0.52 x+48)+24.5 This?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Omg, i answered that already in problem c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All the problems from d-g are answered in problem c. That is so weird

OpenStudy (mertsj):

How can those numbers be the answer to c which asks, "Is the function sinusoidal?"

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Did you even answer that question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because in here, I had to justify my explanation. Which forced me to plot my graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When plotting my graph, I had to come up with the abcd values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

had to graph my graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And come up with the temp function

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Sounds like you're done.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Omg. Silly silly me. Thank you @Mertsj ! you saved my life once more

OpenStudy (mertsj):
