what is the quickest way to change the font color in multiple, randomly located cells in a worksheet?

OpenStudy (trancenova):

That is an odd question.. I'm assuming you mean in excel? Do the cells have anything in common?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would say i will give u a exmaple give me a min

right click

If you select the various cells all at once, then go to Format and then Font, then Select Font Color to change the color of the font.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (trancenova):

That could work - I was thinking of ctrl+f to select them if they had something in common haha.

I think you can write a macro that does these kinds of things. I've never coded any macros (or used excel) to know how to do such a thing myself though :(

OpenStudy (trancenova):

The excel macros just use visual basic though - I usually just google to find the code (hehe).

To do so in Excel or OpenOffice Calc, you can hold down the Ctrl key when you left mouse click. This will allow you to select non-contiguous cells. Then you can click the font color change button on the toolbar. If you don't have that, you can also change the cell property and select the color for the font.
