1/(x-6) + 1/x = 1/24
(x + x-6)/(x(x-6)) = 1/24
24(2x - 6) = x(x-6)
48x - 144 = x^2 - 6x
x^2 - 54x + 144 = 0

Use quadratic formula. (-b +/- SQRT(b^2 - 4ac))/2a
You get:
(54 +/- SQRT(2916 - 4*144))/2
