a cupboard is filled with large no. of balls of 6different colors. you already have one ball of each color. if you r blind folded, how many balls do you need to draw to be sure of having 3 color matched pair of balls?
4. I think.
I SAY 6 there for you can have all of them
lol
Say the balls are : Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, White, Orange. You're holding 3, say R, B, Y If you draw 3 you could grab G W O so you'd not have doubles. But, if you draw 4 you would have to have a repeat. It's impossible not to. You could draw 6. But the least number you'd have to draw and guarantee a double is 4. Anything over 4 is guaranteed.
so the crazy horse is right
Oh, wait, you have to have 3 pairs? I missed that. Even if you grab 6 you still might not get 3 pairs then. If each grab is a different color, then yes. But if not then no. If you draw W W W R G O You'd only have 2 pairs. If you need 3 matching pairs I'm not sure how to answer that.
so 9
options are 3,4,5,6
go buy 3 at walmart
This is tricky, because there's a crucial piece missing from the question in if you draw the same color twice or not. Based on the answers given I'm going to assume you don't. Then the answer is 6. 3 would only guarantee you have one of each color. 4 would guarantee you have one pair 5 would guarantee you have two pair. 6 would guarantee you have three pair. While it's possible that drawing 3 you'd get lucky and have 3 pair, you can't guarantee it. Repeat note: This only works if you can only draw the same color once.
