There are a lot of Fixed Point Theorems, but you should have been exposed to at least a few in Algebra/pre-calculus/calc i-iii/DEq/toplogy. Basically F is a fuction, such that F(x)=x at some x, is a base definition. You should have seen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed-point_lemma_for_normal_functions at some point. Other fixed point theorems: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed-point_theorem
