Can someone help - Which point lies in the solution set for the following system of inequalities? 2x + y > 8 x − y < 2 I don't know how to do this one.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you take the given points and test them in the system to see whats true

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you need to find one point, its about the same as usual when they have = signs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's (3,4) - but I don't know.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

is 3-4 < 2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No so is it (6,1)?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is 3-4 equal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 - 4 = -1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good, so is -1 < 2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, omg I had a brain fart for a second.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then lets test the second eq 2(3) + 4 > 8 is this true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then since both are true with 3,4 that is a solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you :)
