I need help, I am numerically dyslexic and have a 3rd grade math level. I am trying to figure out 2% of $59,900.00

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide 59900 by 100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then multiply it by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is 1198

hero (hero):

To find 10% of any number, move the decimal two places to the left. To find 1% of any number move the decimal places to the left. To find 2% of that same number take 1% of the number and add it to itself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OMG! That looks sooo easy! Thank you

hero (hero):

Which method do you refer to as easy?

hero (hero):

I guess we'll never know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem

hero (hero):

She never specified which method was better.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mine :P

hero (hero):

Negative. We'll never know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

indeed, but we can assume

hero (hero):

You gave her the answer, by expressing steps, but the general methodology is missing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

..... you break it into 100ths, then you just get 2 of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simple indeed

hero (hero):

It's too late now.

hero (hero):

She's gone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya, but it is the thought that counts...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, it is a she?

hero (hero):

idk, just guessing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why would you assume it is a she?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There must be a deeper psychological meaning to this...

hero (hero):

Why does that matter? Like I said, it was a guess.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

most people guess that people are guys.

hero (hero):

Not necessarily. If the person's name was elena, you would guess it was a guy, would you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, but if the person had a vague name, such as @ntnse01 would you still?

hero (hero):

Like I said, it was a guess.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a strange guess though...

hero (hero):

If you guess it was a boy, it is the same chance of being wrong. 50-50

hero (hero):

Everybody has different perspectives.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, but the majority of people usually assume that if a person has a vague name, that it is a guy.

hero (hero):

I don't consider myself the majority. I consider myself part of the top 1%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, really now.

hero (hero):

So majority rules don't apply to me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't try to pull rank on me....

hero (hero):

I didn't. I was just stating a fact of my perspective.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, you are unusual then, that would explain everything.

hero (hero):

If she is a girl, then you are wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"unusual" for better or worse....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, but I am betting it is a guy

hero (hero):

I could say that you're also equally weird and unusual for guessing a guy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, because the majority of people automatically assume people are guys on the internet unless their name suggests otherwise...
