What is the number of centimeters in MN? I just was able to see all of it on http://assets.openstudy.com/updates/attachments/4f8ce42de4b00280a9c30e17-eliassaab-1334633547966-p11.jpg

Directrix (directrix):

All equilateral triangles are similar. The ratio of the area of triangle ACB to that of triangle MPN is 4 to 1. This comes from observing that the areas of the three congruent quadrilateral regions and triangle MPN are all the same. Those regions, by the Area Addition Postulate form triangle ACB. If two triangles are similar, then the square of their scale factor is equal to the ratio of their areas. So, 4/1 as (40/MN) ^2. 40/MN = sqrt(4/1) = 2/1. If 40/MN = 2/1, then MN = 20 centimeters.
