OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Welcome to the Nest: Release, 04/17/2012.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Mo' mo' tweaks and fixes! - There is now a link to our fabulous media kit on the press page at http://openstudy.com/press . - You can now click your SmartScore in the header to go to your profile. - Clicking “What is SmartScore” in the SmartScore drop down will now bring up the original explanatory text you saw when you first got a score. - Removed the 100XP badge from medal notifications (while medals do give you points, the amount is now more complex, and the mapping from points to SmartScore is also significantly more complex). - Added some debugging output for us admins. - General cleanup of the profile page's styles by @darthsid . They look approximately 210.3% more awesome now. - The last point on the SmartScore plot is now your current score. - Rearrange the titles so that levels 0-20 are Hatchling. - Properly send problem solving stats out in real time. - Added http://openstudy.com/the-nest . BOOYAH!

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Notably, you'll have to open the two links up there in a new window, 'cause there's a bug :p

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Whoa. THE NEST!!

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i thought BOO-yah! was jagatuba's trademark

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

hmmm will "the nest" be explained anytime soon? i couldnt figure it out lol

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Probably not ;) It's another way for us to share what's coming, but I kind of feel like keeping it cryptic :p

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

cryptic...to the google i go...ahhh i see...the all mysterious mod gig huh :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shadowfiend is a very mysterious man.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is The Nest? Is it owlfred's nest?

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

The Nest is a listing of the current branches that haven't been merged and that have been merged for pushing to production. If something is in the top list, we still haven't approved it for inclusion on the main site. If it's in the bottom list, we've approved it but it hasn't been put onto the site yet. Of course, we're sneaky, so all you get to see is the name we've given the branch, which can be descriptive or… Not so much ;) Still, it's a fun way for you to get a peek at what we're up to in the background.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He's been wanting to do this for literally WEEKS.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nice. :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Smart Score has indeed elevated OS to an altogether different level. All credits to our "fab" moderators. Thanks and good luck for the impending furnishing :-)

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Now would be an excellent moment to check out the nest ;)

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i don't still get this nest for the record :P are these like suggestions for the next update?? @shadowfiend i don't get what "merging" means...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lgbasallote the nest let's you see how the development team is working. Basically you can see the productivity of the team and a list of the "branches" of code that represent new features or bug fixes, but you only get to read the title for each branch - so you can assume away about what is being worked on -- e.g. "API the Droid" may refer to work on an API for Android, or maybe an OpenStudy bot...who knows until that feature is released and discussed in this group with a release update. More detail: You can see the titles of the "branches" on the left when viewing 'the-nest' page -- e.g. basically like the way a tree has branches from the main trunk, there is main trunk of code, and then other branches that are worked on separately then merged back with the main trunk. The titles are esoteric and witty and written by the developer who started working on that branch, and pertain to the what the is being worked on in that branch.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

ahh that makes sense

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Cool!

OpenStudy (anonymous):
