It's a hard one are you guys up for the challenge? A rectangular pyramid and a rectangular prism have bases of the same dimensions as shown below. The surface area of the rectangular pyramid is 174 square inches. The height of the rectangular prism is the same as the slant height of the pyramid. What is the surface area of the rectangular prism?

Anyone?!?!?

OpenStudy (jlastino):

Rec. Pyramid 174= B + 1/2 Pl B=6(8) P=2(6+8) = 2(14) =28 174=48+28l/2 174=48+14l 174-48=14l 126=14l l= 9 (slant height) = height of prism Rec. Prism 2lw+2lh+2wh (2)6(8)+2(8)(9)+2(6)(9) 96+144+108 =348

Thanks!

rectangular piramid let Rp. rectang. prism let rP. -so surface area Rp.=174 in^2 area base =6*8=48 lateral area = 2(8*h/2) +2(6*h/2) - so than 174-48=8*h +6*h 126=14h h=126/14 =63/7 =9

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

2*6*9 +2*8*9 =108+144 =252 +2*48 =348 inch squared is the surface area of rectangular prism
