Tan x degrees = 0.3, find the value to the nearest tenth

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Do you have a calc?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

arctan(tan(x)) = arctan(0.3) x = arctan(0.3)

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

tan^(-1) on your calculator is arctan

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

they usually refer to the inverse of tan as arctan and not tan^(-1) because tan^(-1) looks like tan to the negative exponent 1 or 1/tan(x)

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

fyi, i think calculators just use tan^(-1) to save room
