A water ride at a local water park has a ride shaped like a cone that acts like a funnel whereby guests swirl around the cone until they drop through its center. There is one ride for adults and a similar, smaller version for children. If the adult ride has a radius of 32 feet and the child ride has a radius of 24 feet, what is the ratio between the volumes of each ride.
Just get the volumes of the two cones then put them in a fraction wherein V of 32 ft. cone/V of 24ft. cone Do you know how to get the volume of a cone?
yeah but i dont have the height to solve for the volume
Is there a picture for the ride?
no
oh, they are similar solids right? So their areas are also similar :D you can find the area of the 32ft cone then the area of the 24ft A of 32/Aof 24
I meant their areas have a ratio of : a^2/b^2 So you take the square of the fraction you get for the answer
*square root
