Is tubulin synthesized in the cytosol or attached to the ER?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Surprisingly difficult to find straight answer to this online

OpenStudy (liliakarina):

Just wait a little, @witcon .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh sorry I meant on google :] no offense intended

OpenStudy (liliakarina):

Look, I'm so sorry, couldn't find any info on this. But tubulin is a protein ( heterodimer) formed by α and β subunits. Generatis the cytoskeleton. So, I hope you can get something from that. Sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you know what kinds of proteins are synthesized attached to the ER, then you should be able to answer this question.

OpenStudy (liliakarina):

Excatly, thanks @jc7 .

OpenStudy (liliakarina):

But, do you know which ones, @jc7 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Integral membrane proteins (proteins that cross the membrane) and secreted proteins are synthesized in the rough ER. Tubulin is neither an integral membrane protein nor a secreted protein

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks jc7, I couldnt remeber if thats all it produced
