If the contents of a cell have a solute concentration of 0.04 percent, which of these solutions would cause it to swell?

OpenStudy (blues):

This question has to do with diffusion of water down its concentration gradient, also called osmosis. Loosely, concentration gradients are energetically unfavourable - that is, any molecule will spontaneously diffuse down its concentration gradient if one is created. If the cell is placed in a solution with a stronger solute concentration, water molecules will diffuse out of the cell. If the cell is placed in a solution of lower solute concentration, water molecules will diffuse into the cell. Hope that is helpful.

anything less then .04 percent
