What is the flaw in Gina’s proof? Answers The coordinates of D and E were found using the Distance between Two Points Postulate Points D and E must be constructed, not simply labeled, as midpoints. Segments DE and AC are parallel by construction. The slope of segments DE and AC is not 0.
ahhh. wud help but its too long:(
I just read this same proof by coordinate Geometry in a book. The book proof is done in the same way Gina did. So, I'm thinking that there is something tricky in the answer options.
maybe #2?
Gina was supposed to find the coordinates of the midpoints and then place those points on the sides of the triangles. I think you are correct and that Points D and E must be constructed, not simply labeled, as midpoints. is the flaw. It is subtle though because once she found their coordinates, on the graph they went with the same net effect as if she had placed two dots and then found the coordinates.
ya maybe we are just making it harder than it looks? because what she did was all correct
In this book proof, the person found the coordinates of the midpoints and then placed the points D and E on the coordinate plane. I'm going to read Gina's proof one more time to see if I am correct in thinking she located the points with dots and then found the coordinates. Very tricky question, as you said.
it was correct i turned it in and both were!! thank you so much 100% lol
Are you serious? I was just about to write that I think another option is the answer here.
ya im serious lol
Was this answer the second one?
@Qwerty90 All I recall is what is written here. There was another "flaw of the proof" problem we did before this one on the same day.
