what is the major function of asters of centrosome in a cell ?

OpenStudy (kainui):

Asters come from the same root word as Star, or Astral. All it means is that they look like stars and this star like shape is formed from centrosomes attached to, and organizing, all of the microtubules in the cell to grab all the chromosomes during mitosis. On either end of the cell you'll have an aster that is tugging at a sister chromatid of a chromosome at the metaphase plate that will pull the replicated chromosmes apart, for reproduction.
