OpenStudy (karatechopper):
so tht is the table^ but here is the question
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
The manager wasnt to predict the total number of cakes that will be sold on the five fridays in July. Which of these is the best estimate?
F.20
G.50
H. 70
J.100
OpenStudy (karatechopper):

ok - how did you work this out?
OpenStudy (asnaseer):
I just want to check if you are using the right approach
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
alrighty
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
well to find an approximate guess on how many cakes were gonna be sold on the 5th friday i added all the other weeks: 15+20+18+24=77. then i found the average which was 19. so then i added 19 to the other weeks: 15+20+18+24+19=96. and the question wanted an estimate and the closest cumber on the choices to 96
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
is 100

OpenStudy (asnaseer):
yup that is fine. you could also just multiply the average by 5.
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
yes but it wouldnt be accurate
OpenStudy (asnaseer):
since the average gives you "the average number sold per week"
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
well yea
OpenStudy (asnaseer):
neither is accurate - they are both estimates

i said the answer as B but i think i guessed on it im so confused with it!
OpenStudy (asnaseer):
there are two questions here - which one are you talking about?
OpenStudy (asnaseer):
exponential growth?
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
yep

:?
OpenStudy (asnaseer):
thats what an exponential growth curve would look like
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
o
OpenStudy (asnaseer):
basically it grows very rapidly

OpenStudy (karatechopper):
yes but im still confused!
OpenStudy (asnaseer):
take a large value for x, say x=20 and see what each of the equations give you
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
?
OpenStudy (asnaseer):
as x becomes larger and larger, which one of these do you think will increase by the most amount?
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
i thought B?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):
the key here is "grow by the most amount" - which is not the same as "have the largest value"
