What is the lateral surface area of a square pyramid with side length 11.2 cm and slant height 20 cm? 224 cm2 448 cm2 896 cm2 2508.8 cm2

Directrix (directrix):

Lateral Area of a pyramid is (1/2) perimeter of the base times the slant height. LA = (1/2)* (11.2)*4 * 20 ---> This is perimeter of base --> (11.2)*4 LA = 448 square cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ugh, never mind I think I was wrong.

Directrix (directrix):

@creative_huh --> Just multiply the triangle area by 4 and your answer will be correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, I missed the whole "lateral" part. :(

Directrix (directrix):

Just take your work and cut off the base area and you'll be okay.

Directrix (directrix):

@creative_huh --> Here's the point of confusion. Look at the question: lateral surface area --> Most books I have studied call lateral area just "lateral area." But, some say "lateral surface area" which is redundant, I think. People look at it and think surface area as in total surface area.
