Sam is driving at a constant speed of 120km/h and is following Alex's vehicle at a safe distance (3s). Just as Alex passes a telephone pole, the pole topples across the road. Sam slams down on the brakes and comes to a stop before smashing into the pole How far away from the telephone pole was Same when it fell across the road? What was Sam's acceleration How long did it take for him to stop?

This is actually physics. Try going to the physics study group.

I know, but there is mathematics involved also.

first put 120 km/h in m/s to find the speed v in seconds. Then multiply by 3 to find the distance d of the first part of the question. Suposing that he stoped right in front of the pole,d=vt -1/2(dv/dt)t^2. This would be the equation.
