Which of the following organisms has the highest reproductive potential? dogs bacteria elephants humans

OpenStudy (blues):

You can think about this in terms of complexity. Really complex organisms composed of many, many cells (and those cells are eukaryotes, with a nucleus, and more complex themselves) take longer to reproduce and develop. Which organism on the list is the simplest?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would think methods of reproduction also play a big role. How does the organism reproduce, does it require sexual or asexual reproduction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look at how each reproduce: Dogs-Sexually Bacteria-Asexually(dont need a partner, copies its own genetic code) Elephants=Sexually Humans-Sexually So for which species would it be easiest for them to produce offspring without hassle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How long does it take for an organism to reproduce? Humans 9mo Dogs 45ish days Bacteria minutes, in some cases After reproducing, how long until they reach sexual maturity (so they can again reproduce)? Humans 12y (loosely!) Dogs 9mo (loosely) Bacteria minutes, again depending on species and enviroment
