Got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x + 7 < 22 x < 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Distribute the 9 with (x+7) so its gonna be 9x+63<198 subtract 63 9x=135 Divide by 9 x<15

All problems like this are the same process: So first you'll look to see if all the variables are on the same side. If not, you get them there. If there is any addition or subtraction on the same side as the variable you get it to the other side. Then if there is any multiplication or division of the variable you get that to the other side. Then you get rid of exponents. And to get things to the other side you do the opposite process Addition - Subtraction Multiplication - Division (If you divide by a negative the inequality flips direction from < to > and vice versa) Exponents - Exponential roots. And you always do it (the process) to both sides.

I missed in there the distribution of the 9 in this case within the parentheses, that's done first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[9 (x+7) <198\] divide both sides by 9 \[x+7<22\] subtract 7 from both sides \[x<15\]

It "flips" only when you multiply or divide by a negative no.
