Read the following poem and try to explain its impact based on the connotations of the words the poet used. What is the poet comparing? What effect does this create? How do the connotations of heaven, infinity, and eternity affect the meaning of the poem? "To see a world in a grain of sand And a heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand And eternity in an hour." --William Blake
Hey, I'm new to this, so if I'm off in a wrong direction, give me a hand --- I'm wondering where you've gotten with this. First line - what do you think of? What mental image or picture comes to mind? I'd go line by line and figure out what image (you can even use google image search for actual images) comes to mind and then compare and contrast those. Does that help?
