Who here can help me with linear Algebra?

OpenStudy (alexwee123):

what is this algebra you speak of?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

Matrices !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can someone explain to me the rank theorem.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

theres a thrm? rank = colA = rowA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you prove that?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sure, open the book to page 43

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 Dont post if you don't know how to do it,

OpenStudy (amistre64):

why not? you did ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

pg 265 .... definition: rank of A is the dimension of the column space of A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The rank-nullity theorem states that the rank of a matrix A plus the dimension of the null space of A is the number of columns in A. I.e. rankA + dimNulA = n where n is the number of columns in A. Have you learned about pivot columns and echelon forms yet? If yes, the proof for this theorem will logically follow.
