Penicillin interferes with the bacterial wall synthesis whereas some other agents disrupt protein synthesis: aminoglycosides bind to the 30S ribosomal subunit. Sulfonamides act as competitive inhibitors of essential bacterial enzymes (see sulfanilamide and dihydropteroate synthetase - bacteria are essentially starved of folate which is needed for growth. Polymixins are known to interact with the bacterial cell membrane rather than the cell wall because of their structure. I hope this gives you a start for you question.
