graph the function by hand. find the vertex y=x^2+2x-7

For the first part of the question, you need to do it yourself. First, make a table. x |-4|-3| -2 | -1 | 0 | 1 | 2 --------------------- y | 1 |-4 |-7 | - 8 | -1 |-4| 1 Graph it using a graph paper then. After that you can get the vertex.

The other way to get the vertex is to make the equation into the form y = a(x-h)^2+k, where (h,k) is the coordinates of the vertex.

when i plot the numbers it doesnt form a parabla

Sorry, for x=0, y =-7, typing mistake in my table. Then you should get a parabola
