how would i find cos with the information given?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sin u =1/6 - so than sin^2 u=1/36 sin^2 u +cos^2 u=1 -- than 1/36 +cos^2 u =1 so than cos^2 u =1 - 1/36 = 35/36 - so than cos^2 u=35/36 cos u = +/- sqrt(35/36) = +/- (sqrt35)/6

what would the answer be thought? because sqroot 35 over 6 doesn't work.

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sin^2 u +cos^2 u =1 1/36 +(sqrt35/6)^2 =1 1/36 + 35/36 =1 (1+35)/36 =1 36/36 =1 1=1 - why not is right ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok ?
