What is the best explanation for the process of transpiration in plants?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perhaps think of it simply as evaporation? which occurs when water molecules gain enough energy to break the intermolecular forces keeping them as a liquid, and enter into a gaseous state. The only difference is simply - transpiration occurs in plants, through stomata (holes in the plants). Same chemistry, though.
