Which of the following expressions could be simplified further? 2x + 3m + 7n + 4z − 5p 6x − 7m + 9x 4x + 3m − 5z + 8a 2x + 3m − 5y + 4z

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Evaluate: 8 − (−7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 56

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and for the other i got answer 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I really believe its 2 because you can just add the 6x and the 9x and it wont and the result will be the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and a negative times a positive is a negative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it should be -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets help eachother here......... so doesn't (-7) mean that your suppose to multiply the 7 and the 8? if so then because your multiplier is a negative your result will be a negative. they dont subtract eachother, please, tell me if I am wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

being honest am not sure because i dont have a good grade in algebra that why am trying to get help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, I'm here to learn to :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm, give me some time...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

me too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it! you see your only suppose to multiply if theres no insignia next to the parenthesis, so since there is an insignia (8-) the only thing your suppose todo is just subtract, so 8- -7=1!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i got one more if u can

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A concession stand charges $2.00 per soda and $0.50 per candy bar. Write an expression for the amount of money you would need to buy x sodas and y candy bars

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and for your first question I am right-o that you can simplify 6x − 7m + 9x and turn it into 15x -7x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hit me! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is what i got 20/sodas,.5 candy bars x=soda y=candy bars so the expression will be 20x+.5y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me if am right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmmm..I think that works, but what was on My mind was something like a rate, so like 1 candy bar and 1 soda is like xy=2.50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and they want a essay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But otherwise, that definitively works!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

essay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that the way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so like a wrtitten response on how it works? the candy one bar right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(Essay Worth 6 points) A concession stand charges $2.00 per soda and $0.50 per candy bar. Write an expression for the amount of money you would need to buy x sodas and y candy bars

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm ok, I would say something like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg u really going at it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a way to express the number of candy bars and sodas sold is this: let x (sodas) = 200 and y (candy bars) = .50 and let m = money Now,a n equation to buy 1 soda and 2 candy bars is 2x+1y=m tada!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank so much for your help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are very welcome :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Peace!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are u still here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um yeah, I can still if you want, I was helping another person :D sorry if I like ditched u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i still need the help
