OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, just take the "-" off

OpenStudy (chriss):

The absolute value of a number is it's distance away from 0. -11 is 11 units away from 0.

thanks so much guys!!

When you find the absolute value of something, it will always be a positive. It's like this: If you get in a tub and you're clean, you'll come out clean, and if you get in a tub dirty, you'll still come out clean. When you put the number in the "tub" it'll always come out positive.

I love that example.
