Triangle PQR is similar to triangle ABC in the figure below.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u have to do the ratio since theyre similar to find the missing length

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then solve for p

OpenStudy (katielong):

aha we've just done this at school... find the scale factor

OpenStudy (katielong):

side ab corresponds to side pq

OpenStudy (katielong):

32.5/15 will give you the scale factor

OpenStudy (katielong):

=2.166667

OpenStudy (phi):

@katie, don't you mean 13 (not 15)?

OpenStudy (katielong):

yes sorry :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whats next? I did the 32.5/13 and got 2.5.

OpenStudy (katielong):

2.5 is your scale factor so thats how much bigger the second triangle is so you need to times 6 by 2.5 and il let you figure it out to se if you understand it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The perimeter is 70 inches?

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@phi if you want a medal just comment on my next question. I cant medal both :(
