diagram please?
OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):
Hi kkaila1 :).
where is diagram madam?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):
OK so first we have to find area of square then area of semicircles.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thats what i was having trouble with how would i do that?

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):
Ok, area of square is A=l*b
But here length and breadth both are equal i.e. 10ft^2
OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):
so square area = 100ft^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok ot that part.
OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):
now find the area of semi circles. do you know the formula for semicircle's area?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no i do not

d
OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):
formula for full semicircle is\[\large A= pi r^2\]so for half circle or you can say for semicircle it must be half i.e. divided by 2\[\large A=\frac{pi r^2}{2}\]Is it clear to you?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):
now . as you can see you have 4 semicircles. can you see them?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so should my answer be 157

thanks! i got it right.
OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):
Yes. for one half circles. but there are four semicircles. so multiply 157 by 4
then
Area of semicircles = 4*157 = 628ft^2
OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):
Now add the area of square and area of semicirlces for total area.
Area= area of square + area of semicircles
Area= 100ft^2 + 628ft^2
Area= 728ft^2
So it is D
