OpenStudy (chrisasl):

How can we find if this x = 4rcos(theta), y = 5sin(theta) is an ellipses or a circle? What makes the two parametrical equations (the one representing a circle, and another representing an ellipses) different? Thank you! EDIT: Oh, I think I got it!! If a in x = a r cos(theta) and b in y = b r sin(theta) are equal (a==b) then it is a circle..right?

Yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if they are equal

OpenStudy (chrisasl):

Thank you :)
