Please help for test! Equation of a parabola with focus (-2,3) and directrix at y=-1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

define what you mean by "help for test"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to find this parabola equation and I have a test tomorrow

OpenStudy (amistre64):

that does sound better

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the geometric equation is defined geometrically as all point that are equal distance from a foci and a directix ..... but spelled better

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when we do that, we can derive the equation as: y^2 = 4ax where a is the distance between the foci and the vertex
