Create a sample problem that has a binomial which is NOT a factor of the polynomial being divided.

\[\frac{x ^{2}-13x+5}{x-1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is the binomial not a factor of the polynomial?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In order for the binomial to be a factor, it must evenly divide into the numerator. However, there is no other binomial (involving integers) that will multiply with x-1 to get the numerator.

Thanks! :D
