haha, write short stories if you're pressed for time. Write about things you love, you hate, you wish you had; everything.
Try to start out small and gradually you'll get better!
Also, don't write the same type of paper. Write a fictional story, then a poem, then something that happened in your life.
Write everything you can think of.

join international social sites like this one..it counts as writing..not as deep but it improves grammar..that way you exercise AND have fun at the same time :D

Write a blog about a topic that interests you... read, widely, endlessly, voraciously. Really, for me it was reading.

If I wanted to improve my vocab now, it'd be a matter of remembering words and for that picking one (from perhaps dictionary.com or one of the word-of-the-day sites) and writing a blog post, short story, or even tweet, using it, would cement it's use, spelling, and a context for memorization.
