Maria has three children. There is two years age difference between each child. The total ages of all three children is 36 yrs. Tina is the youngest child. How old is Tina? Let T equal the age of Tina. Which formula will calculate tinas age T+2(T+2)+4(T+4)=36 or T+2T+3T=36 T+(T+2)+(T+4)=36 or 3T+2=36

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

well if tina's age is T, then the next one must be T+2, the next T+4 now..ask yourself..in the first equation.. why was T+2 multiplied by 2 and T+ 4 by 4? where in the problem was it stated to do so?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Those where just the examples and we had to pick one that fit

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

yeah...well forget what i said..T = tina's age; T+2 = next child; T+4 = next child because each one has 2 yr difference..the problem said sum of ages of all three children..disregard the choices..how will you do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add em from there ages idk

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

right..add their ages...so T + (T+ 2) + (T+ 4)

Thankyou, can i ask you another question or should i just ask the question where i usually do and then ya

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

post it there \(\large \leftarrow\) then i'll answer ^_^
