Let me first ask, do you know how positives and negatives multiply? This is pretty basic so what exactly do you know about multiplication?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i just have a hard time with the negatives
OpenStudy (schrodinger):
No problem, so what would six times four be then? (6)(4). Just ignore the negative sign for the moment.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
24
OpenStudy (ajprincess):
(-)*(-)=(+)
(-)*(+)=(-)

Then, since it's a negative number, it would literally just be the negative of that. So (6)(-4) = -24.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but its (-6)(4)?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Thanks @ajprincess. that really helped... you too Schrodinger
OpenStudy (ajprincess):
You are welcome @aaron94
OpenStudy (schrodinger):
Yup, it's \[(-6)(4) = -24.\]

what about (-50) รท (-2)?
OpenStudy (schrodinger):
When you divide a negative number by a negative number, it's what's commonly referred to as a "double negative", and the number comes out positive. So \[(-50)\div(-2) = (50)\div(2)\]
So just divide 50 by 2. WHat do you get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
25
OpenStudy (ajprincess):
(-)/(-)=(+)
(-)/(+)=(-)
(+)/(-)=(-)
(+)/(+)=(+)
OpenStudy (ajprincess):
U are right. That's the answer.
