solve the inequality 2x + 1 > 5 or -3x > -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x + 1 > 5 2x+1-1>5-1 2x>4 2x/2 >4/2 x>2 -3x > -9 x<3 combine the two answer, 2<x<3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you seperated the two parts of the equation subtracted one from both sides and combined them together would i graph this as an open circle on 2 shading right and an open circle on 3 shading left?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

When we have just less than or greater than we use open circles if we had less than or equal to (or greater than or equal to) we'd use filled circles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, and greater than goes right and less than goes left
