What is the lateral area of a rectangular prism if the base edges are 3 centimeters and 4 centimeters and the height is 6 centimeters?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

LSA of prisms -> base perimeter x height Given: base edge/sides -> 3 cm x 4cm height -> 6 cm what do you think you should do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

base times height?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

right! but you don't have a base perimeter given...what would you do to fix that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, im not really sure, but i think you multiply 4 by 2 and 3 by 2 and then add them up. So they will equal 14

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

right! so now you have a base perimeter of 14 cm and a height of 6 cm. what's next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You will multiply and get 84cm2!?! :D
